What to give a Skill, how to check the files it makes, and how to get a better second draft.
Why an agent picks one Skill over another, and how to write a description that gets chosen.
Understand SKILL.md, scripts/, references/, and how deep the folder can go before an agent skips it.
Review scripts before you install, prefer verified packages, and avoid running untrusted code.
Troubleshooting
Wrong folder, or an extra level from a ZIP. Path must end in <name>/SKILL.md for that agent.
Call it by name first, then tighten the description so the agent recognizes your requests.
Overlapping descriptions or duplicate names. Make the intended Skill’s first sentence specific.
Personal folders stay on your machine. Commit project Skills, sync Cursor Skills, or enable on claude.ai.
